What is Open Access ?


Open Access logo, originally designed by Public Library of Science Open access (OA) refers to unrestricted access via the Internet to articles published in scholarly journals, and also increasingly to book chapters or monographs. (from : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_access of 24.12.11)

The organized Open Access mouvement started with the declarations of Budapest, Bethesda and Berlin in 2001 and 2003.

In some disciplines Open Access became the standard for scholar publishing, e.g. physics. In other disciplines Open Access becomes more and more influet.

Open Acces is also an oportunity for reseachers in developping countries to make them hear inside the global scientific community. That's why there are strong Open Acces culture in some emergings countries like Brazil, India or Turkey.
